Ian was born in Parramatta, New South Wales, Australia. He was enrolled as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales in 1962. He came to Canada in 1968 and was admitted to the Alberta Bar in 1969.

Ian’s community interests are varied. He has been President of the Grande Prairie Pipes and Drums Association and a Bencher of the Alberta Law Society. He was a member and Chairman of the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital Foundation and is a past Chair of the Independent Living Services Society. Currently, he is a member of the Law Society’s Queen’s Counsel Screening Committee, Chair of the Grande Prairie Hospice Palliative Care Society and Chair of the Northern Alberta Appeal Board (Dependent Adult Act). He is a member of the Canadian Bar Association and the American Trial Lawyers Association.

Personally, Ian enjoys reading and collecting books, playing bagpipes, history, hunting and occasional tennis and golf.

 




 

Bob was born in Calgary and grew up in Hinton, Alberta. He obtained a Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1975 and degree in Law in 1978 from the University of Alberta. After completing his articles with J W K Shortreed QC in Edmonton he became a member of the Law Society of Alberta in 1979 and he and his wife Nadia moved to Grande Prairie.

Bob has practiced exclusively in the area of civil litigation with emphasis on serious personal injury cases. He has appeared at all levels of the courts in Alberta including the Court of Appeal of Alberta and the Federal Court of Canada. He has obtained precedent setting judgments in trial and appeal courts. He also has extensive experience in dispute resolution including arbitration, mediation and JDR proceedings.

His professional affiliations include membership in the executive of the Alberta Civil Trial Lawyers of Alberta and in the Canadian Bar Association. He is also a past president of the Grande Prairie Regional College Foundation, and a past executive member of the Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal, the Day Treatment Center and the South Peace Hockey League.

Bob played for the Grande Prairie Athletics hockey club and still participates in recreational hockey. He enjoyed the years spent coaching and managing minor hockey and fastball teams which included attendances at provincial and national tournaments. He is a past president of the Grande Prairie Tennis Club and enjoys fitness training, squash, tennis and walking his dog.




 

 

Reg was born in Gladstone, Manitoba, and spent his formative years in Lacombe, Alberta. He has been a resident of the Peace Country since 1972.

After several years in the business world, he attended the Grande Prairie Regional College and later graduated from the University of Alberta with degrees in Arts and Law. He was admitted to the Alberta Bar in 1981.

Reg has been a director and President of the Grande Prairie Co-operative Association. In his spare time Reg is actively involved in camping, operating his various tractors, and building.




 

 

 

 

 

Lyle was born in Grande Prairie, Alberta. He grew up on a farm at Bear Canyon and received his high school education at Fairview. After graduation, he attended the Grande Prairie Regional College and obtained a Diploma in Liberal Studies. In 1982, Lyle received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Alberta, and in 1986 he graduated from McGill University with a Bachelor of Law degree.

Lyle joined the firm in 1990 and has since been instrumental in opening branch offices in Fairview and Sexsmith. He has been a member of the Canadian Bar Association since 1983 and is a strong supporter of public legal education. He has taught with Athabasca University, Fairview College and Grande Prairie Regional College and helped create The Estate & Financial Planning Institute. He presently serves as an advisor to the Commerce Faculty, the Alumni Association and the Students Association at the Grande Prairie Regional College.

Along with public legal education Lyle has served in numerous other volunteer capacities. He has been involved with United Way, the United Church, the Canadian Bar Association, Fairview Community Support Services, and the Fairview, Sexsmith and Grande Prairie Chambers of Commerce. Additionally, he has served on the Boards of Directors of Grande Prairie Little Theatre and the Community Foundation of Greater Grande Prairie. Lyle’s volunteer roles also include the 2010 Arctic Winter Games Bid Committee, EFPI, Kev’s Kids and the Festival of Science.

Lyle is married to Shannon Nelson and has three children.




 

Sherry was born and raised in the Peace Country where her undergraduate studies started at the Grande Prairie Regional College. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Calgary in 1983, and her Law degree from the University of Ottawa in 1986. Sherry was admitted to the Alberta Bar in 1987.

Sherry practices in the areas of Corporate Business Law, Wills, Estates and Real Estate.

Outside her practice of Law, Sherry likes public speaking in areas related to her practice as well as spending time with her family.




 

 

Michael was born in Moncton, New Brunswick and grew up in Ontario, Nova Scotia and Alberta. His undergraduate studies were at the University of Alberta and Carleton University in Ottawa from which he graduated with an Arts degree in 1992. He received his Law degree from the University of Manitoba in 1995, following which he clerked for six Justices of the British Columbia Supreme Court in Vancouver. He was called to the British Columbia Bar in 1997 and practiced at a downtown Vancouver law firm for two years.

Michael moved to Grande Prairie early in the summer of 1999 and was admitted to the Alberta Bar in August 1999.

Michael is in Civil Litigation, dealing primarily with Personal Injury Claims. He is a member of the Law Societies of both Alberta and British Columbia, and the Canadian Bar Association. He is President of the Grande Prairie Bar Association and a sessional lecturer at the Grande Prairie Regional College teaching an introductory law course. He is also Past Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital Foundation, and continues to chair the Foundation’s Dream Home Lottery Project. In his spare time, he plays hockey and other sports and enjoys spending as much time as possible with his family.




 

 

Owen was born in Great Britain and moved to Edmonton, Alberta where he was raised. He completed his undergraduate and law school degrees at the University of Alberta. After graduating in law, he spent a year clerking with the Court Justices of the Alberta Courts of Appeal and Queen’s Bench.

Owen practices in the area of Civil Litigation with an emphasis on Personal Injury Claims and is a member of the Canadian Bar Association and the Alberta Civil Trial Lawyers Association. He is currently a sessional instructor at the Grande Prairie Regional College teaching an introductory law course. Owen assists on the Boards of the Northern Alberta Brain Injury Society and the Community Foundation of Greater Grande Prairie and is a volunteer instructor for the Council for Lifelong Learning. He is also actively involved in various other community activities.

Owen and his wife Jodi are the proud parents of four children. In his spare time Owen enjoys spending time with his family, coaching his children’s soccer team, traveling, and playing squash and basketball.




 

 

Todd was born and raised in Lawn, Newfoundland. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts (Honours) at Memorial University of Newfoundland in 1997 and his Masters of Business Administration and Law degrees from the University of New Brunswick in 2001. He was admitted to the Newfoundland Bar in 2002 and the Alberta Bar in 2004. He is a member of the Law Society of Newfoundland and Labrador, the Law Society of Alberta, the Canadian Bar Association, the Grande Prairie Bar Association and the Alberta Civil Trial Lawyers Association.

Todd moved to Grande Prairie in 2003. He is involved with and advises several non-profit and community based organizations. He currently serves as Vice-President of the Grande Prairie Volunteer Services Bureau. In his free time, Todd enjoys traveling and distance running. He completed the Vancouver Marathon in 2006. Todd’s primary areas of practice include corporate commercial, real estate, estate planning and administration, and personal injury litigation.





 

 
Jason was born and raised in Hay River, Northwest Territories. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree (Great Distinction) at the University of Saskatchewan in 2000 and his law degree at the University of Victoria in 2003. Jason and his wife Julie moved to Grande Prairie in October 2003 and Jason was admitted to the Alberta Bar in February 2005. His areas of practice include Corporate Business Law, Real Estate, Wills & Estates and General Civil Litigation.

Jason is a member of the Canadian Bar Association and the Alberta Civil Trial Lawyers Association. He is a volunteer instructor for the Grande Prairie Council for Lifelong Learning and regularly speaks at public legal education seminars. Jason is involved in several community organizations and is currently a member of the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital Foundation board, as well as the Canadian Home Builder’s Association (Grande Prairie Region) board. Jason enjoys spending time with his wife Julie and his son Hudson, traveling, recreational carpentry, camping, water skiing and playing most sports.





 
 

Miranda was born in Edmonton and grew up in B.C., Edmonton and Calgary. She graduated (with distinction) from the University of Calgary with a degree in Law in Society. Miranda received her Law degree with a business law specialization from Dalhousie University in 2006, following which she moved to Grande Prairie and articled with the firm. Miranda was called to the Alberta Bar in August 2007.

Miranda is a member of the Law Society of Alberta, the Canadian Bar Association, the Grande Prairie Bar Association, the Grande Prairie Rotaract Club, and the local chapter of KidSport. In her free time, Miranda enjoys playing and coaching soccer, and spending time at her grandparents place in the Southern Peace Region where she participates in target shooting, fishing, hunting and other outdoor pursuits.
